Benefits of Water For Skincare

Upgrade your skincare by drinking water and you will reap the good benefits. Once you discover the amazing advantages of water for skincare, you will be drinking a gallon a day. I wish I could say the same for me though. Anyone who is really acquainted with me knows that I am a bonafide teaholic. This means I drink 2-3 cups a day but I should be drinking water more than anything else. You should too and here is why:

Glowing Skin: Ever seen someone with great skin and a smooth complexion? Ask them their secret and they’ll probably tell you that they drink a lot of water. A couple of summers ago, I received a visit from a relative who has absolutely gorgeous clear, smooth skin. Upon asking her the secret, she revealed that it was water. I thought it was pretty simple and although the science is out on how beneficial water is to the skin, I sometimes still miss it. Why? We live in a microwave society where everything is so fast that people don’t even have enough time to drink water. Yet, it’s the single most important ingredient for fresh skin.

Proper Hydration: There are times when I have gone long hours in a day without drinking water only to have a massive headache later in the day. At the time, I didn’t even know the cause but now, I always drink water when I have a headache and it disappears minutes afterwards. Doctors are most likely to tell you that terrible migraine headaches have something to do with dehydration. Water, it seems is a necessary lubricant and your brain needs lots of it. It is recommended that you drink at least 8 glasses a day to hydrate yourself from the inside out.

Can Be An Antioxidant: I looked the meaning of antioxidant online and according to Dictionary.com, it is “an enzyme or other organic substance, as vitamin E orbeta carotene, that is capable of counteracting the damaging effectsof oxidation in animal tissues.” Water itself is not an antioxidant but when you add cucumbers or lemon juice to it to create cucumber-lemon water, then you have added a key ingredients with lots of compounds that neutralize harmful substances in the body such as free radicals. No wonder it flushes toxins out of the body leading to healthy organs, less acne and glowing skin.

I might challenge myself over the next 30 days and drink a gallon of water daily to see what it would do for my facial skin. Perhaps I will share the before and after pictures with you but in the meanwhile, I am interested in knowing if any of you have experienced some of the results mentioned above.
